We are so exciting to be sponsoring an event, along with Lenox and JAB Anstoetz, at the D&D Building this upcoming Wednesday. Stop by and see our floral designs on the spring break inspired tables of 5 talented interior designers. We’ll be posting all of the designs later this week!
Today is Earth Day and also the start of Bloomberg’s New Energy Finance Summit which discusses the future of energy at the Grand Hyatt. We had the opportunity to decorate Bank of America’s conference and reception rooms for the Summit and decided to keep with the sustainable, green theme of the conference. Events can easily be made environmentally conscious by simply taking a few steps. One major way is to not purchase cut flowers to decorate, instead choose potted ones that can be used to well after the event or even planted outdoors. For today’s event we chose to repot white orchids in modern silver vases and place wheat grass in small silver square vases. The end look was clean, modern and best of all, sustainable.
Looking for a fun night out celebrating a great cause? Our exclusive charity partner, Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, is hold their 12th Annual Evening of Laughter in Tribute to Madeline Kahn at Carolineson May 6th.
Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF) is the largest charity in the United States funding ovarian cancer research. Our mission is to fund scientific research that leads to more effective identification, treatment, and ultimately a cure for ovarian cancer.
Each year there will be approximately 22,000 new cases of ovarian cancer in the United States, and about 15,500 women will die of the disease. Currently there is no effective means of early detection. Since 1998, OCRF has given over $50 million for ovarian cancer research. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, OCRF-sponsored researchers are developing innovative strategies for early detection; exploring the genetics that increase risk for ovarian cancer; understanding the underlying molecular biology of the disease; identifying new and better targets for treatment; and deciphering how and why ovarian cancer spreads, and how to stop it.
So Join OCRF for an evening of cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, a live auction, and stand-up performances from some of the best talent in the industry. This year’s lineup features Jim Gaffigan, Nikki Glaser, Phil Hanley, Robert Klein, Lisa Lampanelli, Kevin Meaney, and more. Stay tuned for updates on additional talent!
To purchase tickets, please call 212-268-1002, email kdillon@ocrf.org, or click here.
On March 28, 2013, more than 1000 of New York’s most sophisticated engaged couples and professional wedding planners gathered for the annual New York Weddings Event. Guests strolled the aisles sipping cocktails as New York introduced them to everyone they needed to know to plan the perfect wedding. Over 130 companies participated, including floral designers, dress designers, stationers, photographers, DJs and many more.
We created a pop up flower shop and let guests create their own hand tied bouquets or grab a pre-made one. We had a blast and got to meet great people and other amazing vendors! Here’s some photos from the event that were taken by the very talented and fun Michael Webber of Studio Webber. If you want to see more photos from the evening head over to our Facebook page.
My favorite award show, as I’m sure is everyone else’s, is the Oscars. There is just so much glitz and glamour that it’s impossible to not get caught up in it. From the pre-show seeing all of the gorgeous dresses, to the award show where we see what movies prove to be the best, to the after parties where the stars let loose and seem just a little more real, I love it all. It’s also the perfect night to host a party and here at B Floral that’s what we’re about. We’ve compiled some great ideas from all around the Internet and infused a few of our own ideas so you can host your own award worthy party this Sunday.
The Design…
If you’re planning a get-together with your girlfriends, Lauren Conrad’s blog has some inspired design ideas as well as great free printables. I especially love the idea of a popcorn bar!
Obviously a party wouldn’t be a party without food. Epicurious has some very creative Oscar-nominated movie inspired menus.
If you want to keep it easy, Glitter Guide has some simple and healthy food recipes like Roasted Chickpeas.
The Cocktails…
A traditional cocktail like the Sidecar screams Old Hollywood.
Jazz up some champagne with a little mandarin liqueur.
The Huffington Post shares lots of mouth-watering movie inspired cocktails like “Summertime Tea” created for the movie The Help.
If you’re looking to make it a night out instead of hosting an event, Guest of Guest has created a great list of places to watch the Oscars all around New York City.
When we had our anniversary party a few weeks back, we had a quite a bit of flowers leftover. We definitely didn’t want those flowers to go to waste so we donated some to charity and Helah from JPO Concepts had the wonderful idea of handing out the rest to strangers on the street who happened to be walking by. So a couple members of the JPO team hit the streets for us, loaded with tons of flowers, and set to work handing them out. The response was amazing and we couldn’t have been more thrilled to help make unexpecting passer-bys day a little brighter!
Yesterday we created flowers for a Lucky Magazine event at Super Linda. Since there is a lot of red in and yellowish orange in the space, we used fiery colored flowers including orange and red roses and lots of burnt orange freesia. The flowers were all placed in a gorgeous gold reflective vase and we loved the end result. Today we’ll be trying to stay warm and dry and hope everyone else does too as the Northeast braces for Nemo. Have a nice and safe weekend everyone!

One more vendor to introduce today…Stortz Lighting! Lighting is one of my favorite elements of a party because it so dramatically changes the look and feel of a room. With more than 15 years of experience, the designers at Stortz Lighting are the best and serious visionaries. They can walk into a space, see what it can be, and once they’re done it’s even better than you could have imagined. You can read more about them here!
From Stortz Lighting…The design & production specialists at Stortz Lighting are thrilled to be part of the team entrusted with helping to create a remarkable event experience for the B Floral 2nd Anniversary celebration.
We’re especially excited to bring our 20+ years of experience in the special event industry to The Union Square Ballroom, to help put together a really fantastic party.
2012 was yet another excellent year for us, designing and implementing lighting, audio/video, draping/décor and other production elements for some truly unique weddings, benefit/fundraisers, corporate functions and other celebrations. It looks like 2013 will bring bigger & better creative challenges. What a great way this is to kick the New Year into high gear – a party with our friends at B Floral.
I am so excited to introduce this next vendor who is one of our amazing sponsors! Raquel Bianca, founder of Raquel Bianca Creative, is the sweetest thing ever with a ton of talent and a serious eye for design. You could literally spend days on her blog scrolling through all the gorgeous images. My favorite ones are of her wedding that she designed herself. So here it goes…
Her belief is that family & love are cool. Her purpose is to show off your uniqueness, and her promise is to have a ton of fun in the process! Raquel Langworthy, founder of Raquel Bianca Creative, is a family centered photographer & designer. If you have a quick eye you’ll see Raquel all over NYC, the boroughs, Long Island, and Westchester. And yes, she loves to travel!
Love, Life, & Family are the central focus of what RBC is all about. Her passion is to capture and celebrate the special moments with your loved ones that make life worth living. Raquel specializes in family portraits, and joins you in your home, or any “happy place,” where you and your family feel relaxed and at ease. She is often a ”fly-on-the-wall” at family gatherings and events, be them big or small. Check out the “kudos” section on her site for some mom-testimonials. Oh, and be careful in the “newbies” section, you’ll want to have another.
