NY Weddings Show at the Metropolitan Pavilion

Thank you to all the brides-to-be that visited us at the New York Weddings Event on March 27th at the Metropolitan Pavilion!  We displayed quite an assortment of bouquets and arrangements for the exciting events surrounding the big day. From centerpieces for the bridal shower to boutonnieres for the groom, our display exhibited all of the different options we can create for the special occasions leading up to your wedding. We also had a unique visit from Good Morning America’s Ginger Zee, who is engaged to Ben Aaron and is considering for a wildflower look for her bouquet. Bronwen showed Ginger different bouquet ideas and explained which flowers might create the right look for Ginger’s perfect bouquet. Tune in to GMA this Friday morning to see Bronwen and Ginger discuss different bouquets!

Bright and In Bloom

B Floral hosted special guests for an evening of Champagne, hors d’oeuvres and floral design on February 26th.  Bronwen and the B Floral team transformed the B Floral studio into a Spring Sanctuary.  After the winter we’ve experienced in New York, guests were relieved to step into a room full of bright, fragrant flowers.  The displays around the studio featured arrangements suited for a variety of bridal, corporate, and social events.  Bronwen led guests through a floral design mini-class, and they were able to take home the bouquets they designed along with their goody bags filled with B Floral candles, L’Occitane soap, and jars of hibiscus tea blended by Rustic T.  Our guests seemed to really enjoy themselves, and we had a wonderful response on social media. Follow us on Instagram and Twitter, and search to see more images.

Annual T.E.A.L. Walk

As you know by now, B Floral is a strong supporter of the fight against Ovarian Cancer and September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. If you are looking for something to do this weekend, why not head to Prospect Park in Brooklyn for the 5TH ANNUAL T.E.A.L. WALK/5K RUN to celebrate? The T.E.A.L. Walk is currently the largest Ovarian Cancer Walk in New York City, and has raised a quarter of a million dollars since inception to help spread awareness about the disease, and fund research. This year, for the first time ever T.E.A.L. will also be hosting a 5k Run to take place before the Walk, beginning at 9am.

T.E.A.L. is a grassroots foundation started by two Brooklyn sisters when the late Louisa M. McGregor was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. Because there is no accurate screening for Ovarian Cancer, T.E.A.L. works to educate and inform woman about the signs and symptoms of the disease in order to help facilitate early detection, and save lives. T.E.A.L. also works to help fund screening research with the hope that women will have a reliable Ovarian Cancer screening test in the foreseeable future.

Online Registration is now closed but you can still register in person on the day of the event or give a donation at www.tealwalk.org.

Authors Night

We were out in the Hamptons this past weekend for the ninth annual Authors Night at the East Hampton Library.

Authors Night is a lavish fundraiser to benefit the East Hampton Library. All proceeds go directly to the Library. Beginning in 2005 with a handful of dinners and a few hundred attendees, it has grown to be the premier literary event of the Hamptons with over 100 authors and more than 1,000 people in attendance.

We teamed up with Hamptons Magazine and Serena and Lily to decorate a gorgeous East Hampton home for Hampton Magazine’s Authors Night after party event hosted by Padma Lakshmi. We placed lots of lanterns around the grounds to create a lovely glow and filled beautiful white pails from Serena and Lily with lush white blooms. The linens that Serenand Lily provided for the event were gorgeous as were their comfy looking pillows in bright prints that were placed in seating areas scattered around the yard. We loved the look of this event, head over to our Facebook page to see even more photos!

Super Saturday

Here at B Floral we work closely with our exclusive charity partner, Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, on special projects throughout the year. OCRF’s mission is to fund scientific research that leads to more effective identification, treatment and ultimately a cure for Ovarian Cancer. Each year they host a fundraising event in the Hamptons called Super Saturday.

Sponsored by QVC, and hosted by Donna Karan, InStyle, and Kelly Ripa, Super Saturday is a day-long summer fundraising event for the entire family. Shoppers, designers, sponsors, celebrities and supporters were all on hand in the Hamptons on July 27th, making Super Saturday 16 another great event. Many thanks to all who supported Super Saturday, and helped raise an incredible $3.5 million for ovarian cancer research!

We were more than thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Event Style in the decorating of the VIP tent. Since it’s a family friendly event full of bright colors we wanted to have our arrangements reflect that. We put cut grass into white ceramic vases and decorated them with bright orchid heads. We also put sea grass in tall white vases to create a little height since the tent is huge and for even more color we scattered paper parasols on the tables. Super Saturday is such a fun event for a great cause and we are so excited to have been apart of the day!

For more images  from the event head over to their Facebook page and to see more images of our flowers and the VIP tent.

L’Occitane Holiday Preview Event

A couple weeks ago L’Occitane held a holiday preview press event to show off their new line of holiday gifts to various editors. B Floral had the pleasure of creating a Provencal inspired flower market for the event complete with lots of metal buckets, burlap, vintage wooden crates and dried lavender. As a takeaway gift, we created custom hand tied bouquets for the editors to receive as they were leaving the event. There were tons of gorgeous flowers on hand including roses, allium, astilbe, scabiosa, and brunia berries.

A huge thank you to Studio Webber for capturing images from the event.

Happy Earth Day

Today is Earth Day and also the start of Bloomberg’s New Energy Finance Summit which discusses the future of energy at the Grand Hyatt. We had the opportunity to decorate Bank of America’s conference and reception rooms for the Summit and decided to keep with the sustainable, green theme of the conference. Events can easily be made environmentally conscious by simply taking a few steps. One major way is to not purchase cut flowers to decorate, instead choose potted ones that can be used to well after the event or even planted outdoors. For today’s event we chose to repot white orchids in modern silver vases and place wheat grass in small silver square vases. The end look was clean, modern and best of all, sustainable.

An Evening of Laughter

Looking for a fun night out celebrating a great cause? Our exclusive charity partner, Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, is hold their 12th Annual Evening of Laughter in Tribute to Madeline Kahn at Carolines on May 6th.

Carolines Invite

Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF) is the largest charity in the United States funding ovarian cancer research. Our mission is to fund scientific research that leads to more effective identification, treatment, and ultimately a cure for ovarian cancer.

Each year there will be approximately 22,000 new cases of ovarian cancer in the United States, and about 15,500 women will die of the disease. Currently there is no effective means of early detection. Since 1998, OCRF has given over $50 million for ovarian cancer research. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, OCRF-sponsored researchers are developing innovative strategies for early detection; exploring the genetics that increase risk for ovarian cancer; understanding the underlying molecular biology of the disease; identifying new and better targets for treatment; and deciphering how and why ovarian cancer spreads, and how to stop it.

So Join OCRF for an evening of cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, a live auction, and stand-up performances from some of the best talent in the industry. This year’s lineup features Jim Gaffigan, Nikki Glaser, Phil Hanley, Robert Klein, Lisa Lampanelli, Kevin Meaney, and more. Stay tuned for updates on additional talent!

To purchase tickets, please call 212-268-1002, email kdillon@ocrf.org, or click here.

New York Magazine Weddings Event

Last Thursday night we had the pleasure of being a vendor at the New York Magazine Weddings Show.

On March 28, 2013, more than 1000 of New York’s most sophisticated engaged couples and professional wedding planners gathered for the annual New York Weddings Event. Guests strolled the aisles sipping cocktails as New York introduced them to everyone they needed to know to plan the perfect wedding. Over 130 companies participated, including floral designers, dress designers, stationers, photographers, DJs and many more.

We created a pop up flower shop and let guests create their own hand tied bouquets or grab a pre-made one. We had a blast and got to meet great people and other amazing vendors! Here’s some photos from the event that were taken by the very talented and fun Michael Webber of Studio Webber. If you want to see more photos from the evening head over to our Facebook page.
