Summer Fashion Inspiration

This weekend marks the official start of summer – if you’ve been looking for an excuse to go on a shopping spree, the change of seasons is the perfect opportunity! Here at B Floral, we think floral patterns and flowery accessories are always in style. Maybe we’re a little biased, but if New York Fashion Week was any indication, top designers think so too.

Easy DIY Projects to Kickstart Your Summer

Parks full of picnickers, window displays blooming with breezy accessories, and rooftops and patios reopening for the season…it’s finally starting to feel like summer! Our studio has been overflowing with beautiful May flowers – freesias, ranunculus, peonies, cow lilies – as we’ve been prepping for Men’s Health Grooming Awards and the Rising Stars Youth Foundation Gala. Don’t worry if you’re not surrounded with flowers like we are here at B Floral – we have some ideas for fun wall décor and sweet DIY accessories that will bring the outdoors to you!

Pressed Flower Frame

Maybe you’re looking for a more permanent way to display your blooms, or maybe you can never remember to water your flowers – either way, this pressed floral display is a perfect solution and will brighten up your home year-round.

Moss Graffiti

Moss graffiti is a quirky way to add flair to an outdoor space. If you make the time to tend to your moss art, the results can be stunning!

This unique accessory is great for summer, and so easy to make as long as you have the right supplies. Buy in bulk so you can surprise your friends with these little terrariums!

Flower Pot Necklace

More floral than earthy, this flower pot necklace is a more delicate alternative to its terrarium counterpart. Paired with a sundress, this sweet piece is a great way to accessorize.

Pressed Flower Phone Case

A decorative phone case is the perfect way to carry a little bouquet of flowers with you wherever you go. If you want to attempt this project on a larger scale, try it out with a transparent laptop case.

Oscars Red Carpet 2015

It’s the most glamours night of the year…the Oscars! We tuned in last night to the 87th annual Academy Awards and were more than impressed!

While the actual awards show is always fun we must admit that we paid extra attention to the dazzling stars during the festive red carpet coverage. We just couldn’t help but see astounding similarities between the celebrities’ gowns and some of our favorite flowers and arrangements!

What We’ve Been Up To

You may have noticed that we’ve been a bit silent on the blog lately. For that we are very sorry but we have been so busy lately with tons of fun events for some amazing clients at cool venues! From an Under Armour event at the Old Tobacco Warehouse in Brooklyn, Lucky Magazine and Teen Vogue events, to a conference for Imperial Capital at the Waldorf, we’ve been all over the city with our blooms. The best way to keep in touch with B Floral and see what we’re up to is by following us on Instagram. Here are some photos from our busy floral adventures lately.

Summer Photo Shoot in the Hamptons

Last week we took a break from the city and headed out to the Hamptons for our annual Summer Photo Shoot with Dyad Photography and Bad Feather. A heat wave also joined us out there so it was a very hot day to shoot but we got some great images from the day. We did about 6 scenes and cannot wait to show off the photos because they are definitely some of the best we’ve done yet. Of course a photo shoot in the Hamptons wouldn’t be complete without multiple Tate’s bakery stops and lots of other yummy food.

Here are a few sneak peeks from the shoot but we’ll have more behind the scenes photos up soon.

Scenes from the Market

This morning we stopped by the market to pick up orchids for one of our client’s offices. We also ambled a bit longer than necessary to take advantage of the nice day and see all the flowers that line the street of the flower market. Between the beautiful sunny weather and the gorgeous fragrant blooms it was a nice morning stroll. There was so much color everywhere that it made you think it’s really starting to feel like Summer, which in fact officially begins tomorrow. Hope everyone gets to enjoy the beautiful weather on the last day of Spring.

Chevron Inspiration

Time for a little inspiration this Monday in the form of chevron. Chevron simply means a line or strip in the form of a “v” or an inverted “v” and I’m sure you’ve seen it just about everywhere by now. From linens, to fabrics to papers, the simple pattern is a beautiful addition to tables, dresses and invitations.

Here’s some of my favorite ways to incorporate the trend…

Happy May Day!

May 1st is a traditional spring holiday celebrated in many cultures, May Day. The earliest May Day celebrations appeared in pre-Christian times, with the festival of Flora, the Roman goddess of flowers. A common May Day practice is leaving flowers on your neighbor’s doors as a Springtime greeting. A simple way to leave flowers is to place them in a paper cone or mason jar and tie it to the door knob. You can find a tutorial on how to make a paper cone here.

The NYC Flower District

This morning like most mornings, we found ourselves in the Flower District. For those of you who have never been, it’s on 28th street between 6th and 7th avenue and is made up of a a bunch of supply stores, vase stores, and wholesalers. You can walk down the street and see flowers everywhere you look, it’s kind of awesome. We were out buying flowers and supplies for an Ovarian Cancer Research Fund auction event tonight at City Bakery but I wanted to share with you some of the stuff we saw.
