Tips for Planning a Beautiful Wedding at Home

When you dreamed of your big day, you probably didn’t envisage an intimate wedding at home, but the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic has forced many couples to cancel, change or postpone their plans to say “I do”.

For those not wanting to wait to celebrate their love, a small ceremony at home or somewhere local is a great alternative to larger gatherings or destination weddings. Here at B Floral, we have planned hundreds of stunning weddings and know that small, intimate weddings can be just as special and even more memorable.

To help get you inspired, we have teamed up with Blue Nile the world’s leading online retailer of diamond jewelry and engagement rings, to share our top advice for hosting an intimate wedding at home.

A Wedding at Home is the Safest Option

We have seen a major shift to at-home wedding celebrations and intimate gatherings. Because COVID-19 restrictions are ever-changing, we feel that planning an intimate at-home gathering is the most reliable wedding plan for 2020.

We’ve heard from recent brides and grooms that scaling back their weddings not only alleviated the pressure of their big day but also made their weddings more personal and unique.

Before you plan your wedding at home, here are some things to consider:

Social Distancing

If you are inviting guests beyond your closest circle, make sure there is enough space for everyone to be able to socially distance at all times including the ceremony and the reception.

Stock Up on Safety Essentials

We also suggest having extra masks, hand sanitizer, and cleaning supplies on deck to keep your guests safe.

Host Your Wedding Outdoors

If you can, host your wedding ceremony and reception outdoors which is safer than close-quarters gatherings indoors.

Communicate with Your Suppliers

Always talk to your suppliers and vendors before making any major decisions. Because most event vendors are coping with COVID-19 changes, they’ll likely have an insight into current restrictions and will be able to help you create a new wedding plan that’s right for you.

Get Creative!

We love how creative our brides and grooms have been during this time. Because most of our clients are scaling back in size and numbers, we’re finding they are focusing even more on the décor and overall aesthetic, which has been such a delight!

We’ve transformed backyards and porches into a ceremony and reception spaces and have created large hanging installations as photo backdrops.

Regardless of whether you live in an inner-city apartment, a suburban house with a garden, or out amongst nature, there are always interesting and creative ways to work with the space you have for your big (or little) day.
