Summer 2024 Event Design Trends: 7 Innovative Ideas for Your Celebration
If you’re planning an event from June to September, you’re in luck! There’s no shortage of inspiration for event design in the summer.
With over a decade of design and planning experience in the tri-state area and beyond, our team has seen seasonal trends come and go (hello, mason jars). Here, we rounded up seven design trends that will truly stand the test of time while making your summer event pop. Read on to discover seven summer design elements to take your event to the next level.

Immersive Entrances
Ensure you’re setting the tone for your event from the minute your attendees cross the threshold! Your event will be memorable right from the start when guests enter through an interactive entrance, whether it’s wandering through a maze of color, strolling through a garden bursting with scent, or choosing their own adventure by selecting one of three doors to enter through.
Edible Arrangements
For a playful and unexpected pop, we’re seeing fruits (especially citrus, like oranges and lemons) incorporated into floral event design this summer. Fruits and veggies can add new and unexpected elements of texture and color to your event’s décor to grab attendees’ interest.
Oversized Faux Florals
Larger-than-life faux florals were a staple in spring event décor and designs this year, and will continue to make their mark in Summer 2024. These scaled-up blooms can fill large spaces with dynamic shapes or bring an airy feel to a smaller space. They’re also the perfect place for attendees to snap a photo.
Branded Lawn Games
Nothing says summer like a low-stakes lawn game, so why shouldn’t your event swag follow suit? The pickleball craze has been in full swing for the past three or so years, and we can’t help but assume bocce or handball might be next. Outfit an outdoor space with lawn games emblazoned with your logo or patterns in your brand colors for a brand awareness play you’re sure to win.
Immersive Photo Booths
Photo booths continue to become more innovative and creative, and we’re not anticipating any slowdown this summer. Decked out in florals or accompanied by larger-than-life props, including a custom backdrop for your photo booth that echoes the event theme or your brand ethos will spread brand awareness post-event on social media through your attendees’ posts.
Neon Lights and Tropical Florals
Bright lights and blooms mix modern and lush décor elements for a glam aesthetic. When it comes to flowers and greenery, anthuriums, orchids, and monstera leaves are really having a moment. As for neon lights, abstract installations that wind, curve, and loop are demanding the spotlight.
Outdoor and Open-Air Events
A space that’s breezy, airy, and filled with light: an event planner’s dream! Events this summer will lean into venues that include both outdoor and open-air spaces for attendees to enjoy the sun (or the sunset!). Note: In the summer (especially in the Northeast), weather can be fickle and outdoor events require a backup plan and methods to keep attendees cool.
