A Festive Autumn Gala For REACH Prep
All About the Event
REACH Prep, an educational access organization in the Northeast, celebrated thirty years of service this year at its annual gala. The event was held at the Belle Haven Club in Greenwich, CT, which features beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces. The gala’s program included cocktails, dinner, a curated live auction, and an after-party with a DJ. Having collaborated with REACH Prep on previous events, we were thrilled to bring their vision for this milestone gala to life through our event florals and design.
Our Concept for the Event Flowers
The floral design for this gala included multiple elements: a step and repeat, a large statement centerpiece, and a variety of table arrangements in different sizes. With the cocktail hour held on a different floor than the reception, the hosts requested that each space feel distinct, especially in terms of the color palette. For the cocktail hour, which included the step and repeat and the large statement centerpiece, we drew inspiration from deep autumnal tones and REACH Prep’s bright red logo. For the tented outdoor reception, we paired the same rich autumnal tones with whimsical pops of blue to complement the nautical setting at the Belle Haven Club.
For the step and repeat installation, we used primarily red flowers and greenery to create two floral pillars that framed a vinyl backdrop featuring the REACH Prep logo. The pillars included red roses, dahlias, carnations, anthuriums, anemones, and other blooms in various shades of red. For the statement centerpiece, we used dried hydrangeas, fall foliage, and greenery to design a striking arrangement for the table under the room’s chandelier. For the tented reception, our centerpieces and stage designs featured delphiniums, spray and garden roses, chocolate lace, dahlias, ranunculus, and other whimsical, colorful flowers.
How We Brought Our Event Flowers to Life On-Site
After months of planning with REACH Prep and preparing a seamless logistics plan, we arrived on-site with ample time to set up each detail perfectly. Our event florists split their efforts between the cocktail hour and reception spaces, initially placing and refreshing centerpieces, then constructing the floral pillars for the photo area on-site. Once the centerpieces were placed in the reception space, we turned our attention to building the stage design, which included a dark drapery backdrop. We also unpacked and placed candles on the tables and refreshed all of our floral arrangements.
Throughout both spaces, our florists adjusted any arrangements affected during transport from our studio. We always bring extra flowers in case we need to tweak arrangements based on client feedback or replace any flowers that may have been damaged in transit.
Highlights from the Gala
REACH Prep’s 30th Anniversary Gala was a resounding success! They exceeded their fundraising goal for the evening, and guests enjoyed a night filled with cocktails, dinner, entertainment, and a stunning photo moment. The floral arrangements were photographed by local magazines and organizations and widely shared on social media along with guest photos.
